No prenuptial agreement could mean bitter divorce fight

As Minnesota readers already know, complex asset division typically accompanies high-asset divorce. From financial holdings and family-owned business to real property and investments, complex asset division can take time and money. That is just one reason family law attorneys encourage high-asset clients to obtain prenuptial agreements. Minnesota high-asset couples may enjoy the following blog on high-asset divorce.

Some readers may be familiar with Bruce and Kris Jenner. Bruce is a former Olympian who married Kris in 1991. Kris Jenner was previously married to a wealthy attorney. In recent years, the couple has been most notable as a reality television couple on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." Sadly, after 22 years of being a family, it was recently reported that the couple has decided to split and may be headed towards divorce.

While the split is surprising enough to many viewers, there is also speculation the couple does not have a prenuptial agreement. Considering the phenomenal wealth and financial holdings that the couple has been able to acquire over the years, the lack of a postnuptial or prenuptial agreement between the couple could create real headaches, placing unnecessary additional emotional and financial strains on the entire family.

A prenuptial agreement is about more than just protecting personal assets; it is also about providing both parties security and certainty at an uncertain time. In times of divorce emotions are often high and people can have difficulty managing complex asset division. A prenuptial agreement can help both parties handle many of these issues before tempers flare making the actual process of divorce much easier than without.
